Monogram Foods in Martinsville presented local nonprofits that help children with grants from the Monogram Loves Kids Foundation.

Grace Network, Community Storehouse God’s Pit Crew out of Danville each was awarded $10,000. Young Life of Martinsville, Ronald McDonald House of Roanoke and Fellowship of Christian Athletes of Blairs received $5,000.

“Monogram takes loving kids seriously,” Pat Strickland, vice president of operations for Monogram, said in a release announcing the grants. “We support the foundation by payroll deductions and focused fundraisers. Our communications team allocates these funds to deserving charities.”

Travis Byrd of Community Storehouse said funding from Monogram will go toward the Backpack Program which provides free weekly deliveries of child-friendly, nutritious food for local schools to students referred to the program by teachers and counselors.

Tracy Hinchcliff of Grace Network said the funding will be used for the food pantry and hygiene area.
