CROSSWALK

First United Methodist Church and Wesley UMC will hold CrossWalk at noon Friday. First UMC will provide bus transportation for the CrossWalk and bottled water. It takes about an hour to get from First UMC to Wesley Memorial. FUMC is the first station of the cross. Station 2, at the BB & T parking lot off Church Street; Statiion 3, in front of the middle school on Cleveland Ave.; Station 4, at the parking area for the old Sara Lee/Pannill Building on Cleveland Ave.; Station 5, the old Sonic parking lot on Starling Ave.; Station 6, at the parking lot for the Masonic Lodge on Starling Ave.; and Station 7, Wesley UMC. At each station scripture that speaks to various incidents in Jesus’ passion and death is read, followed by a brief commentary, prayer and a hymn.

HOLY WEEK SERVICES

St. Joseph Catholic Church will hold Good Friday services with stations of the cross at 3 p.m. and celebration of the passion at 7 p.m. Holy Saturday Easter vigil,mass is at 8 p.m. Easter Sunday mass is 10:30 a.m. (English) and noon (Spanish). Hispanic Ministry will hold Passion of the Lord Alive at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Missionary Society of Meadowview A.M.E. Church will have the Seven Last Words of Jesus at the Cross at 7 p.m. Friday, with guest preachers Eric Ross of Trinity Church of the Living God, Stuart; the Rev. Robin Hopkins of Bethel A.M.E. Church, Rocky Mount; Brenda Finney of Divine Faith Holiness Church, Martinsville; Angela Dones, Way of Truth Holiness Church, Preston; Janice Royal of New Beginnings Holiness Church, Martinsville; Anthony Taylor of Passion of Praise, Martinsville; and the Rev. Pamela Preston of Greater Love Holiness Church, Martinsville. Music will be by Terrell Johnson and Passion of Praise Ministries of Martinsville.

Star Ensemble/Diaconate Ministry will hold the last seven sayings of Jesus with seven speakers at at 7 p.m. Friday.

EASTER EGG HUNTS

Mill Creek Baptist Church, 6200 Henry Road, Henry, will have Walk of Hope and egg hunt at 11 a.m. Saturday, followed by a light lunch.

First Baptist Church of Collinsville, 3339 Virginia Ave., will hold an Easter egg hunt at 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday in the lower playground of the church. In case of rain, the event will be held in the Fellowship Hall. For children to age 12. Light refreshments will be served.

Pleasant Grove Christian Church, 5285 Preston Road, will hold an egg hunt at noon. All ages welcomed.

EASTER SUNRISE SERVICES

Meadow Christian Church, 1140 Meadowood Trail, Martinsville, will hold Easter service at 6 a.m. Sunday, with Alan Preston of Refuge Temple Holiness Church in Martinsville as guest preacher.

Faith Community Church, 3836 Iron Bridge Road, Stuart, will hold Easter service at 7 a.m. Sunday, with breakfast to follow and an Easter egg hunt to follow breakfast. For information, call Clayton and Ella Sue Hylton at 276-930-2037.

First Presbyterian Church will hold Resurrection Sunday/Easter service at 7 a.m. at Lake Lanier (off Root Trail). Easter breakfast is at 9:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall, followed by Sunday school at 10 a.m., an Easter egg hunt at 10:15 and worship service at 11 in the sanctuary.

Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, 601 Third St., Martinsville, will hold Sunrise Service at 6:30 a.m. Sunday with speaker Minister Lardenia Campbell. Guests will be Rev. Matthew Brown and St. Paul High Street Baptist Church, Martinsville. Breakfast will be served. Sunday school will start at 9:30 a.m. and Easter morning worship will begin at 11 a.m.

Star Ensemble/Diaconate Ministry will hold Sunrise service Sunday at 7 a.m. followed by breakfast. There will be no 11 a.m. service or Sunday school.

Mountain View will hold sunrise service at 7 a.m., with Cornelius Preston, associate minister of Mountain View, as speaker.

Fort Trial Christian Church of Bassett will hold "Sonrise Service" at 7 a.m. Sunday, with breakfast to follow.

Missionary Society of Meadowview A.M.E. Church will hold sunrise service at 6 a.m. Sunday, with the Rev. Terry Hairston, associate minister of Evangelical Holiness Church, Martinsville, as guest speaker.

Mountain Valley Missionary Baptist Church, 8893 Mountain Valley Road, Axton, will have a sunrise service at 7 a.m. Sunday, with guests Pastor Michael Jordan and the congregation of Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Axton.

Bassett Church of the Brethren will host sunrise service at 7 a.m. Sunday in the lower-level parking lot. A light breakfast will be served following service.

High Ridge Baptist Church will hold sunrise service at 6 a.m. Sunday, with guest speaker Chris Hairston, minister of Agape Christian Fellowship.

Christian View Missionary Baptist Church will hold sunrise service at 6 a.m. Sunday.

Community Baptist Church, 5315 Airport Road, Bassett, will have sunrise service at 8 a.m. and special singing in a service at 11. James Orange will be the guest speaker.

Fairview Baptist Church, 75 Fairview Church Lane, Barrows Mill Road, Martinsville, will have Easter service at 11 a.m., followed by lunch and an Easter egg hunt.

High Ridge Baptist Church will hold Easter service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Reginald Coleman of Brown Chapel Baptist Church, Yanceyville, N.C., as speaker.

Mountain Valley Missionary Baptist Church, 8893 Mountain Valley Road, Axton, will hve Sunday school at 9 a.m. and worship at 10, preached by Kacel Witcher, minister of The Galilean House of Worship in Martinsville.

Fort Trial Christian Church of Bassett will have no Sunday school. Worship will start at 11 a.m.

Mountain View Church of God of Prophecy, 436 Mountain View Road, Patrick Springs, will hold an Easter celebration featuring the gospel singing group God Can at 11 a.m. Sunday.

Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, 601 Third St., Martinsville, will hold spring revival services at 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. The Rev. Waddell G. Jones Jr., pastor of New Free Spring Baptist Church of Rustburg, will be the speaker, and there will be a different choir nightly.

Gethsemane Pentecostal Holiness Church, 2380 Blackberry Road, Bassett, will hold spring revival services at 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, with Alan Preston as guest speaker.

DAY OF PRAYER

Martinsvillle/Henry County National Day of Prayer Observance will be at 6 p.m. May 2 at the New College Institute. Leaders and citizens will gather to pray for our community, state, nation and one another. A classroom at NCI will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for prayer.
