Gospel Five

Three years singing together for area churches and events — and now the Gospel Five will celebrate its anniversary of that time together. The special concert will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday at Greater Love Ministries, 906 E. Church St., Martinsville.


St. Joseph Catholic Church will hold Lent Discussion Sessions at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, with discussion this week on The Pro-Life Movement and President Trump, moderated by Father Mark and Gerry Lawicki.

First United Methodist Church, 146 East Main St., Martinsville, will hold Lent service at noon April 10 in the sanctuary, with guests form First Baptist Church of Martinsville, guest Pastor Libby M. Grammer and special music by Mary Ann McConnell and Kimberly Synder.


Snow Creek Christian Church will hold an Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. There will be games, crafts, story time, Easter egg hunts and lunch.

Blackberry Baptist Church, 3241 Stones Dairy Road, Bassett, will hold a Resurrection Rally at 11 a.m.-1 p.m. April 13 for ages Pre-K to fifth grade. Bring your baskets to gather Easter eggs. A hot dog lunch will be served.


The Gospel Five will have a concert to celebrate their third anniversary at 5 p.m. Saturday at Greater Love Ministries, 106 East Third St., Martinsville. The group includes James Hagwood and Ben Legans.


Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 13602 Martinsville Highway, Cascade, will install the Rev. Frederick Dion Noel at 3 p.m. April 14. Guest preacher will be the Rev. Carlton Redd, pastor of Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church.


Minister Arnold Bullock of Henry County will be the guest speaker for youth revival services at The Only Way Church of Christ, 128 Roosevelt St., Eden, N.C. Services at at 5 p.m. Saturday and  3 p.m. Sunday.

Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 630 Rock Hill Community Road, Bassett, will have revival at 7 nightly Tuesday through Thursday. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Dwight Mack of Mayo Missionary Baptist Church of Spencer, and different choirs will sing each night.

New Bethel Christian Church will hold Spring Revival at 7 p.m. Mondeay through Wednesday. Rev. Matthew Brown of St. Paul High Street Baptist Church will speak on Monday, Rev. Alan Preston of Refuge Temple Holiness Church will speak on Tuesday, and Rev. Robert Smith along of Jerusalem Christian Church will speak on Wednesday.

Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 2700 Soapstone Road, Ridgeway, will hold spring revival at 3 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Guest speakers: Monday, the Rev. Taylor Tolliver of Friendship Baptist Church in Bassett; on Tuesday, the Rev. Jerome P. Coleman of Beulah Baptist Church in Danville; Wednesday, the Rev. Antonio L. Logan of New Light Baptist Church of Martinsville; and Thursday, the Rev. Byron L. Battle Sr. of Little Bethlehem Christian Church in Eden, N.C.

St. James Holy Church will have revival at 5 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. Guest speakders: Sunday, Elder Alan Preston of Refuge Temple in Martinsville; Monday, the Rev. Charles Whitfield of First Baptist East Martinsville; and Tuesday, Elder Leonard Thompson of Christ Temple Church


The New Sharon Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Wyatt Farm Road, Axton, will sponsor a plate selling at 11 a.m. April 13.


Progressive Prayer Temple is celebrating 27 years along with Bishop Milton Johnson Sr. at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Guest speaker will be Rev. Rorer Morrison, pastor of Mount Olive Holiness Church of Martinsville, accompanied by his choir and congregation.

Vision Assembly of God, 153 Oakland Drive, Collinsville, will celebrate its 42nd annual homecoming at 11 a.m. Sunday, with guest speaker Pastor Dave Dillon. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m.

Love and Hope Ministries, Holiday Shopping Center, Collinsville, will celebrate its fifth anniversary with speaker Pastor Tyler Millner of Morning Start Holy Church at 2 p.m. Saturday. A community meal originally scheduled for April 14 has been cancelled.


Divine Faith Holiness Church, 1002 West Fayette St., Martinsville, will hold a fish fry at a11 a.m. on Saturday.


Jerusalem Free Deliverance Church, 135 Blue Knob Road, Leatherwood, will have guest Elder James Kirby and the congregation of Shewbread Church in Danville at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Spirit of Christ Worship Center, 4250 Chatham Road, Martinsville, will have guest Bishop James Miller and the congregation from Shiloh Temple Apostolic Church at 3 p.m. on Sunday.


Jerusalem Free Deliverance Church, 135 Blue Knob Road, Leatherwood, will have its 15th annual Women’s Fellowship Breakfast at 9-11:30 a.m. Sunday. In addition to the breakfast a program about “The Struggle is Over” will feature speakers Linda Taylor and Hovenia Hedricks.

Greater Lilly of Valley Holiness Church, 3513 Bassett Heights Road, will hold its annual Women’s Day at 3 p.m. Sunday. Guest speaker will be Erik Ross of Tenily Holiness Church in Stuart.

Smith River Missionary Baptist Association Women’s Missionary and Education Auxiliary will meet at 8:45 a.m. Saturday at the association center. The executive directors will meet at 10:30. The Laymen League Chorus will rehearse at 12:30 p.m.


Mount Bethel Holiness Church Missionaries will meet at 3 p.m. April 14, with various speakers on the topic of "Women of Destiny." Pastor is Elder Monique Jamison.


Smith River Association Center will host the United Ushers Fellowship Workshop at noon Saturday. Workshop leader will be Cleo Preston of Pilgrim Baptist Church. The host church will be First Baptist Church.


County Line Christian Church, Axton, will have its First Friday music at 7 p.m. today, featuring “The Churchmen.” The event is free and open to the public. Free refreshments are also provided.


Divine Faith Holiness, 1002 West Fayette St., Martinsville, will hold its Minister’s Service for Pastor Marshall Wells at 3 p.m. Sunday. Pastor Roland Twine of Holy Trinity will deliver the message.


First Galilee Missionary Baptist Church will have a fellowship service at 3 p.m. Sunday, with Rev. Dwight Mack, pastor of Mayo Missionary Baptist Church as guest speaker.


Theology discussion with Joanie Petty, director of the Boys and Girls Club, speaking on the topic of "The Theology of Design and Service” will be at 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Mountain Valley Brewing, 4220 Mountain Valley Road, Axton. Petty will talk about how the design of the world affects people’s theology — and vice-versa.
