LENT SERVICES

First United Methodist Church, 146 East Main St., Martinsville, will hold Lent service at noon Wednesday in the sanctuary, with guests Bethel United Methodist Church and Cascade United Methodist Church and guest Pastor Lil Geib with special music by Mary Ann McConnell.

St. Joseph Catholic Church will hold its next Lent discussion session at 4:30 p.m. Sunday with a discussion on immigration and the border wall, moderated by Father Mark and Gerry Lawicki.

Shiloh Way of the Cross Church of Christ of the Apostolic Doctrine, 938 Brookdale St., Martinsville, will have in concert the Joybells of Axton at 5 p.m. Sunday. Also featured will be the Shiloh Way of the Cross Church Women’s Fellowship Choir. A free-will offering will be requested in the service.

The Coles Family will be in concert at New Life Apostolic Church, 9361 Callands Road, Chatham, at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Hillcrest Baptist Church, 18075 A.L. Philpott Highway, Ridgeway, will have The Dixie Melody Boys in concert singing Southern Gospel music at 6 p.m. Sunday.

ANNIVERSARIES

 Rives Road Baptist Church,  1103 Rives Road, Martinsville, will celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Rev. Anthony Woody and his wife, Victoria, at 6 p.m. Saturday, with a gospel singing at 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday. The Sunday morning guest will be Terrel Johnson of Passion Praise Outreach Ministry, and the afternoon guest will be the Rev. Raymond Ramsey, accompanied by the congregation of Greater Mount Parrish Baptist Church.

Grace Chapel Ministries, 182 Blackberry Road, Bassett, will celebrate its 27th anniversary at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, with guest speaker Carl T. Motley Jr. of Mount Sinai Apostle Church in Martinsville, and at 2:30 p.m., with Pastor Drucilla Hairston and Spirit Led Temple Holiness Church congregation from Danville as be special guests.

Shiloh Baptist Church of Fieldale will have pre-anniversary services Tuesday through Thursday at 7 nightly. Speakers will be: Tuesday, the Rev. Taylor Tolliver of Friendship Baptist Church; Wednesday, Bishop Randy Martin of Bible Way Greater Assurance Ministries; and Thursday, the Rev. Terry Hairston. On Sunday, April 7, at 3 p.m. the church will celebrate the 18th anniversary of Pastor Benjamin Redd and his wife, Sophia, with guests from St. Paul Holiness Church of Bassett.

MISSIONARY WORSHIP SERVICES

Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church will hold a missionary worship service at 11 a.m. Sunday, with Pastor William C. Randolph delivering the message. 

Christian View Missionary Baptist Church will hold Missionary Day at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, with Charlotte Spencer, associate minister of Day Star Ministries of Bassett, delivering the message and the Men of Christian View rendering the music.

MORNING GLORIES TO MEET

Bassett Church of the Brethren will host its monthly meeting of Morning Glories, a community fellowship group, at 9:30-11 a.m. Wednesday. Susan Spangenberg, pastor of Pocahontas Bassett Baptist Church, will be guest speaker. Please bring finger foods to share. Drinks will be provided.

SPRING REVIVAL

Temple Baptist Church, 125 English Road, Martinsville, will hold spring revival services, with speaker J.D. Walker, starting with Sunday school "Friend Day" at 10 a.m. and services at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Services will continue at 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

NERF TOURNAMENT FOR KIDS

First Baptist Church, 3339 Virginia Ave., Collinsville, will hold a free “Wild” Nerf Tournament at 5:30-8 p.m. today for ages K-fifth grade. Bring your own Nerf shooters and bullets and team up for a tournament. Safety glasses and extra balls will be provided. Pizza will be provided.

Smith River Missionary Baptist Association Baptist Ministers' fifth-Sunday service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at Christian View Missionary Baptist Church in Spencer, with the Rev. Harold Carelock, pastor of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, preaching.
