LENT SERVICE

First United Methodist Church, 146 East Main St., Martinsville,will hold Lent service at noon in their Sanctuary on March 27, with guests Pastor Kameron Wilds and the Smith Memorial United Methodist Church from Collinsville  and special music by soprano Rena Edwards.

St. Joseph Catholic Church will hold Lent discussion sessions at 4:30 p.m. Sunday with discussion on Pope Francis’ ministry moderated by Father Mark and Gerry Lawicki. Friday’s Stations of the Cross Friday’s of Lent — bilingual is at 7 p.m.

WOMEN’S WEEKEND

Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 2700 Soapstone Road, Ridgeway, will hold Women’s Weekend with the theme “Making a Difference: Requires Sacrifice.” The schedule is a prayer breakfast at 9 a.m. on Saturday, with guest speaker Lealice Jones Hagwood of Agape Bible Christian Fellowship in Martinsville. Morning worship at 11 a.m. Sunday, with guest Minister Tamika W. Hairston of First Baptist Church of East Martinsville; and a service at 3 p.m., with guest Minister Marilyn M. Millner of Morning Star Holy Church of Martinsville.

 REVIVAL SERVICES

Mount Olivet Apostolic Church, 8770 AL Philpott Highway, Martinsville, will hold a Transformation and Restoration Spring Revival at  at 7 p.m. daily on March 27-29, with guest speaker Darnell Dixon Sr. of Bible Way Temple of Raleigh, N.C., and , guest choirs nightly.

Christian View Fire-Baptized Holiness Church, 261 Burbank Drive, Ridgeway, will have revival at 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday.

 INTERFAITH DIALOGUE

The Interfaith Council of Martinsville & Henry County will host an interfaith dialogue on “Faith & Gender Equality” at 1-2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church, 23 Starling Ave., Martinsville. First Baptist Senior Pastor Libby M. Grammer will be the host, with participants from the Jewish, Christian and Islamic traditions participating. 

FREE COMMUNITY MEALS

Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, 601 Third St., Martinsville, will serve a free community meal from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the fellowship hall on Saturday.

Smith Memorial United Methodist Church, at the corner of Daniels Creek Road and John Redd Boulevard, will hold a free community meal at 5:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Mount Zion A.M.E. Church, 304 Fayette St., Martinsville, will have a free community meal from at noon-2 p.m. Thursday.

APPRECIATION SERVICE

Trinity Church of the Living God in Stuart will hold the 31st Appreciation Service for its assistant pastor, Frank B. Tatum, 11:15 a.m. Sunday Elder LeAnder Reynolds will be guest speaker, accompanied by guests true Gospel Holiness Church family. Dinner will be served.

 FISH FRY

First Galilee Missionary Baptist Church “Rainbow Tea” teams will sponsor a fish fry at the home of Debra Adams, 255 Lakewood Trail, Martinsville, at 11 a.m. Saturday. This event is on behalf of the building fund.

Apostolic Sanctuary of Jesus Christ (next to Dollar General in Laurel Park Plaza) will have “The BIG Giveaway” from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Clothes and household goods will be given away.
