The number of infected worldwide today likely will reach 500,000. The Virginia Department of Health reports 391 cases statewide -- more than a 33% jump since Wednesday morning  -- and the death count advanced to 9. Some 59 people are hospitalized. Johns Hopkins University's real-time map shows 487,648 cases world wide and 22,030 deaths. There are 69,197 in the U.S. (that rose about 25%), gaining on China and Italy. Worldmeters coronavirus update -- which always trends a little higher -- shows the death count in the U.S. at 1,037.
