The House will take up debate today on the stimulus package as news emerged that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson had tested positive for COVID-19. The U.S. now has more cases than both China and Italy, the most in the world. In Martinsville and Henry County, many are helping out with masks and protective gear. But the area -- with Patrick County -- awaits its first positive case. The Virginia Department of Health reports 604 cases statewide -- nearly double the number from Thursday -- and the death count leaped 56% to 14. Some 83 people are hospitalized. Johns Hopkins University's real-time map shows 553,244 cases world wide and 25,035 deaths. There are 83,012 in the U.S. Worldmeters coronavirus update -- which always trends a little higher -- shows the death count in the U.S. at 1,307, a nearly 30% increase from Thursday.
