EDITOR’S NOTE: The Martinsville Bulletin will report court proceedings in Henry County and Martinsville district and circuit courts, except some juvenile cases and traffic citations other than DUI. Claims in all civil suits are reported, except in custody cases. All claims as filed with the courts represent only one side of the case. The newspaper does not omit any names that qualify to be included. The information is compiled from court documents by the Bulletin

Henry County District Court

Toby Joseph Mase of Collinsville was charged with eluding police and DWI first offense. The offenses allegedly happened March 8. His next hearing will be in August.

Bruce Allen Spencer Jr. of Bassett was charged with possession/transport of weapon by a violent felon. His charge was amended to possession of weapon/ammo (not gun). The offense allegedly happened Feb. 1. His next hearing is in December.

A judge sent to circuit court charges of grand larceny, auto theft, grand larceny, more than $500 (not personal) and possession of gun by a non-violent felon convicted within 10 years against James Alan Dillon of Bassett. The offenses allegedly happened Feb. 23.

Jordan Thomas Hall of Eden, N.C., was charged with strangulation resulting in injury and malicious shooting/throwing in occupied building. The offenses allegedly happened June 5. His next hearing will be in September.

A judge sent to circuit court three counts of petty larceny (felony), two counts of obtaining money under false pretenses, less than $500 (felony) and a charge of grand larceny, more than $500 (not personal) against Jerry Wayne Nester Jr. of Fieldale. The offenses allegedly happened Feb. 19, Feb. 27 and March 11.

Michael Dean Gilley of Eden.N.C., was charged with grand larceny, auto theft. The offense allegedly happened March 4. His next hearing is in October.

A judge sent to circuit court a charge of obtaining money under false pretenses against Glennie William McBride Jr. of Martinsville. The offense allegedly happened Dec. 18, 2017, resulting in arrest March 14.

A judge sent to circuit court a charge of shoplifting/altering merchandise, greater than $500 against Kasie Lane Joyce of Bassett. The offense allegedly happened March 7.

Charges of grand larceny and larceny, obtainment of credit-card number against Stephanie Grant Kropira of Thomasville, N.C., were dismissed.

Christopher Justin Stegall of Bassett was charged with grand larceny and obtaining money under false pretenses, greater than $500. His bail hearing was held June 21, and he was granted $7,500 secured bond. Bail has not been paid. The offenses allegedly happened Jan. 20. His next hearing will be in July.

Mary Ann Turner of Bassett was charged with malicious wounding and robbery of residence with a gun. Her bail hearing was June 21; she was denied bond. The offenses allegedly happened June 14. Her next hearing is in August.

Carson Reid Clifton of Bassett pled no contest to a charge of DWI first offense. He was sentenced to 6 months in jail with full term suspended, driver’s license s suspended for 1 year, ordered to complete VASAP, and pay a fine of $2,000 plus costs. The offense happened Apr. 27. An administrative hearing is set for Dec.

Kimmarie Dawn Kennon of Bassett was charged with prisoner possession of an unlawful chemical. Her bail hearing for June 24 was withdrawn. The offense allegedly happened on June 8. Her next hearing is in September.

Marty Lee Wiggington of Martinsville was charged with grand larceny, more than $500 (not personal) and entering a structure to commit assault and battery. The offenses allegedly happened April 26, resulting in arrest on May 27. His next hearing is in July.

James Ralph Crum of Martinsville was charged with driving after declared habitual offender and forgery, public records. His bail hearing was June 24; he was granted $25,000 secured bond. Bail has not been paid. The offenses allegedly happened June 13, 2018. His next hearing is in July.

Paul Nelson Hodges of Ridgeway was charged with possession/transport of a weapon by a violent felon. His bail hearing was held on June 24; he was granted $10,000 secured bond. Bail has not been paid. The offense allegedly happened May 24. His next hearing is in July.

Henry County Circuit Court

Billy Joe Plaster of Fieldale was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of firearm while possessing methamphetamine. The offenses allegedly happened Jan. 14, resulting in arrest March 21. His next hearing is in July.

Howard Shawn Reynolds of Martinsville was charged with hit and run resulting in personal injury/death. The offense allegedly happened Sept. 3, 2016, resulting in arrest on May 21. His next hearing is in July.

Thomas Richard Pequingnot of Stuart was charged with first degree murder. His bail hearing was held on June 20; he was denied bond. The offense allegedly happened Jan. 12, 2018, resulting in arrest May 21. His next hearing is in July.

Ronnie Wayne Atkins of Bassett was charged with fentanyl distribution and methadone distribution. The offenses allegedly happened April 16, 2018, resulting in arrest Jan. 28. His next hearing is in July.

Antarius Tycedric Tinsley of Martinsville pled guilty to cocaine distribution and distribution of imitation controlled substance. The offenses allegedly happened May 2, 2018, and May 7, 2018, resulting in arrest on April 23, 2019. His next hearing is in July.

George Travis Mahan of Martinsville was charged with two counts of cocaine distribution. The offenses allegedly happened Jan. 19, 2018, and Jan. 22, 2018, resulting in arrest Jan 28, 2019. His next hearing is in July.

Elquinto Delano Jamie Arnold of Ridgeway was charged with malicious wounding of a family/household member. He pled not guilty. The charge was amended to unlawful wounding (felony). The offense allegedly happened Sept. 9. His next hearing is in September.

Jeral Max Sunderland Jr. of Bassett was charged with failure to register as a sex offender. He pled guilty to a lesser charge of failure to register as a sex offender (misdemeanor). He was sentenced to 1 year in jail, with 11 months and 18 days suspended. The offense happened on Oct. 9.

Sampson Leevan Hairston of Martinsville was found guilty of possession of ammo by a felon. He was sentenced to 5 years in jail, with 4 years suspended, and 2 years of supervised probation. The offense happened Dec. 5, 2017.

A judge dismissed but may later reopen a charge assault and battery of family/household member third subsequent offense against Doyle Ray Markham Jr. of Henry. The offense allegedly happened Feb. 1.

Roderick Tremaine Miller of Martinsville was charged with DUI third subsequent offense within 10 years and cocaine possession. The offenses allegedly happened Oct. 14, resulting in arrest on June 14. His next hearing is in July.

Johnathan Lee Rivers of Bassett pled no contest to a charge of shoplifting, third subsequent offense. The offense allegedly happened Nov. 30, resulting in arrest Feb. 14. His next hearing is in July.

James Nelson Thompson of Ridgeway pled no contest to a charge of grand larceny: motor vehicle. He was sentenced to 5 years in jail with 5 years suspended, 2 years of supervised probation and driver’s license suspended for 6 months. The offense happened Dec. 5, 2018, resulting in arrest June 7.

Timothy Dale Underwood of Ridgeway was charged with breaking and entering a building to commit larceny and grand larceny of motor vehicle. The offenses allegedly happened Dec. 5. His next hearing is in July.

Brandy Lea Wiseman of Martinsville was charged with animal cruelty-death. She was found guilty of animal cruelty. She was sentenced to 1 year in jail, with 6 months suspended, and ordered to pay a fine of $500 plus costs. The offense happened on Dec. 17.

Martinsville District Court

Shannon Michelle Kidd of Martinsville was charged with grand larceny, more than $500 (not personal). The offense allegedly happened May 28, resulting in arrest June 19. Her next hearing is in September.

A judge dismissed but may later reopen a charge of grand larceny, auto theft against Leroy John Utter of Martinsville. The offense allegedly happened on Oct. 27.
