Winn awarded scholarship

Dianna Winn of Henry County, a recent graduate of Patrick Henry Community College, was among 120 students chose to receive the Local Government Federal Credit Union Scholarship Award. Winn will use the scholarship to study at Old Dominion University and is one of 120 high school seniors and post-secondary students who will receive this scholarship.

The LGFCU Scholarship Award recognizes a student’s high achievement in extracurricular activities, as well as academic excellence by their having maintained a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.

Clifton graduates from Harvard

Calen Clifton, formerly of Ridgeway, recently graduated from Harvard University with a degree in Education Policy. His parents are Keith and Regina Clifton of Madison, N.C.

Hornsby on Dean’s List at Sewannee

Alexandra Barksdale Hornsby of Axton, daughter of Lori Hornsby of Axton and Roger Hornsby of Martinsville, recently was named to the Dean's List for the spring semester at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn. To qualify, she earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.625 on a 4.0 scale.
