Road projects continue to affect traffic in Henry and Patrick counties.
In some cases roads will be closed to through traffic while construction is underway.
In Henry County, there are three projects, two of which could be completed today:
- A portion of State Road 877 (Piney Forest Road) will be closed partially to through traffic so that workers can install a cross pipe near 99 Piney Forest Road. The closure is from a tenth of a mile from U.S. 58 (A. L. Philpott Highway). Weather permitting, all work should be completed by today.
- Miles Road will be closed to through traffic from two tenths of a mile from Wheeler Avenue to install a cross pipe on Miles Road. Weather permitting, all work should be completed by today.
- A portion of Dyers Store Road will be closed to through traffic from Windy Ridge Road to Barrows Mill Road. This is necessary to replace the bridge over Beaver Creek. Weather permitting, the work is expected to reopened by June 19.
Meanwhile in Patrick County, the Virginia Department of Transportation announced a major repair
Koger Mill Road Bridge over the North Mayor River is closed for repairs. That bridge is located north of Critz, about a half-mile from the intersection with Abram Penn Highway.
Recent heavy rains have caused some erosion around one of the bridge’s piers, and environmental issues have required assessments.
Local traffic can follow posted detour signs around the closure.
The state has announced no completion date for that work.
