U.S. 58 West has reopened at the U.S. 220 overpass after being closed much of the day because of an overturned truck.

A tractor-trailer carrying what officials said was shredded insulation overturned on U.S. 58 West at the merge ramp from U.S. 220, blocking access to the highway on Tuesday morning.

No one was injured.

Travis Pruitt, captain of Ridgeway Rescue Squad, said about 10:15 a.m. that U.S. 58 bypass westbound was closed entirely for about 45 minutes, then one lane was reopened.

That remained the case until roughly 3 p.m. when a Virginia Highway Patrol dispatcher said all lanes were open.

Pruitt said the ramp from U.S. 220 is closed and will be for some time.

Sgt. Rick Garletts of the Virginia State Police said the accident was reported at 8:25 a.m. Thompson Trucking, which owns the truck, made arrangements to clear the road and pick up the truck.

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this article described incorrectly the directional of U.S. 58. This event was on the westbound side of the highway. The date also was said to be Monday.
