Elizabeth Mabe, age 74, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2019, in Henrico County. She was born in Bishop, Va., on July 15, 1945, to Dewey Garfield Thompson and Betha Marie Thompson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John Lewis Mabe who died in 1989. She never remarried, as he was the love of her life. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence, Howard and Fred Thompson. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Mabe Booker and son-in-law, Michael; grandsons, John Colter Booker and Andrew Nathan Booker, whom she absolutely adored; and a brother, Sam Thompson of High Point, N.C. Elizabeth loved her family and said a daily prayer for all of them. She was a very involved aunt and loved to hear stories about her great nieces and nephews. She worked for Henry County Public Schools, as a special education bus driver and aide, for almost 20 years. A celebration of life will be held Thursday, January 2, 2020, at Collins Funeral Home, 30 Riverside Drive, Bassett, Va., at 11 a.m. with a visitation an hour prior. MARTINSVILLE, Va. Jaspal Kaur Narula, loving mom and grandmother peacefully passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2019. She had a post graduate degree in Indian history and was a retired school principal from India, an amazing published cook and had a passion for knitting. She was business partner of New York High Style. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sardar Pritam S. Narula. She is survived by her children, Kanchan Preet, Jappreet and Jaipreet. Darrel A. Peay, 80, of Martinsville, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2019, at his home. He was born May 17, 1939 in Rock Hill, South Carolina, to the late Carl Jackson Peay and Mary Lorena Burris Peay. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Theresa Gilley. Over his working career, Mr. Peay had been employed at Heavy Industrial Construction, Flour Daniel Construction and Stone Container; and had been arbitrator for Savannah, Georgia Union Pipe Fitters & Machinists. He had served in the United States Navy and the United States Army. He was a Mason and a Shriner; was active in the American Legion and DAV, and was a life member of the VFW and AmVets. He was named Veteran of the Year in 2008. Mr. Peay is survived by his wife, Michele "Shelly"; sons, Darrell (Tiffany) Peay, Cliff Peay, Michael (Stephanie) Peay, and David (Kim) Peay; sister, Aileen Patton; and eleven grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be on Thursday, January 2, 2020, at 2 p.m. at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Chaplain Jerry Perdue officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
