William Elgin "Rookie" Clark Jr., 71, of Fayetteville, Ga., departed this life on Monday, February 24, 2020, at Piedmont Hospital in Fayetteville, Ga. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020, at 12:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of East Martinsville with Dr. Charles Whitfield, eulogist. Barbara Ann Johnson Hennis, 69, of Ridgeway, Va., passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2020. She was born on June 28, 1950, to the late Jesse E. Johnson and Mildred Spicer Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Earl F. Shaw. Mrs. Hennis was a member of Kingdom Point Church and she retired from Pannell Knitting after 21 years of service. She also owned and operated Evergreen Florist in Ridgeway, Va. for 12 years. Mrs. Hennis and her husband, Denny Ray Hennis, got married on December 20, 1965 and were married for 54 years. Barbara had received a double lung transplant at Duke University Medical Center on February 22, 2010 and was blessed with a happy and active life. She is survived by her husband, Denny Ray Hennis of Ridgeway, Va.; daughters, Angela Hennis Wheeler (Billy) of Ridgeway, Va. and Carolyn Hennis Reynolds (Lance) of Edmond, Okla.; sisters, Carrie Susan Barnes of Ridgeway, Va. and Sally Peele of Waynesboro, Ga.; brother, Billy J. Shaw (Libby) of Martinsville, Va.; and grandchildren, Wayne Wheeler (Heather), Jonathan Wheeler, Matthew Wheeler, Andrew Wheeler, Nicholas Reynolds, and Jackson Reynolds. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2020, at Kingdom Point Church in Ridgeway, Va. with Pastor Marcus Heffinger officiating. Coy Edward Holley, 91, born in Franklin County, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2020. He was born on May 24, 1928 to the late Thomas Edward Holley Sr. and Lucy Shivley Holley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Dewey Shivley, Grady Holley, Lloyd Holley, Albert Holley, Thomas Edward Holley Jr., Edgar Holley, Dennis Holley, Virgil Holley, and Johnny Holley; and two sisters, Maude Holley and Marie Broome. Coy retired from the DuPont Plant in Martinsville, Va. with 38 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, bowling, NASCAR racing and spent several years traveling throughout the United States after his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Lula King Holley of Floyd, Va.; and son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Penny Holley of Willis, Va. Frances "Nikki" Martin Lilly, 32, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2020, at SOVAH Health of Martinsville. She was born July 7, 1987 in Franklin County, Virginia to the late Lisa Faye Martin. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Glenwood W. Martin and Nancy Lee Martin. Mrs. Lilly is survived by her husband, Christopher Lilly; daughters, Erabella Rose Martin, and Klair Marie Lilly; stepson, Nathaniel Lee Lilly; daddy, Johnny Ryder; sister, Tiffany Dawn Owen; brothers, Christopher Wade Martin and Jeffery Lee Martin; earth mother, Debra Martin; aunt, Frances Baker; and uncle, Sammy Martin. Mary Alice Plasters, age 79, of Ridgeway, Virginia passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2020, at her home. She was born April 24, 1940, in Patrick County, to the late James Moir Hatcher and Mildred Hughes Hatcher. She was a school bus driver for Henry County Schools and a nurse for Moses Cone in Greensboro. She was highly active within the community, leaving several heavy hearts and fond memories behind. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Melvin Ray Plasters and her son, Donald Melvin Plasters. She is survived by her sister, Ruby Puckett; her children, Kathy Plasters Sanchez (Reyes), Connie Powell, Dennis Plasters, and Thomas Plasters; seven grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren. Mr. Wayne Robert Simmons, age 92, of Stuart, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2020, at Sovah Health Martinsville Hospital. He was born in Patrick County on August 6, 1927, to the late Tom Simmons and Cassie Shelton Simmons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings, Charles Simmons, James Simmons, Richard Simmons, Nannie Ruth Simmons White, and Bill Simmons; and one son-in-law, H.L. Dunn Jr. Mr. Simmons graduated from Stuart High School in 1946 and NC State in 1957. He served three years in the Air Force and served in occupied Japan from1947-1949. Mr. Simmons had over 20 years of service with the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. He worked for United Elastic and JP Stevens for 38 years as an industrial engineer. He was a member of Smith River Church of the Brethren. He loved golfing, hunting and gardening. He was a faithful and devoted, husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Simmons is survived by his wife of 65 years, Louise Atkins Simmons of Stuart, Virginia; two daughters, Brenda S. Dunn of Martinsville, Virginia, and Rita S. Morris and husband, Steve of Ridgeway, Virginia; four grandchildren, Tami Dunn Martin, Carey Dunn Ballard, Bradley Morris, Jason Morris; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Samuel Linward Simmons, and wife, Carolyn of Critz, Virginia; sister-in-law, Betty Lou Simmons Clark of Stuart, Virginia; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Simmons will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2020, at 2 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart with Pastor Danny Gilley officiating.
