Mr. Byron Ross Eure, 51, of 36 Bradford Court, Martinsville, Virginia, departed this life on Sunday, December 29, 2019, at SOVAH Health – Martinsville. Born May 18, 1968 in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Bruce Vernon Eure and Carol Anne James Eure. Mr. Eure attended Stockton State University and received his bachelor's degree in Accounting. He was employed at Angler's Choice in Martinsville, Virginia. Mr. Eure was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and Omega Psi Phi fraternity. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Dr. Terri Younger-Eure of the residence; two daughters, Alexah and Asiah Eure, both of Martinsville, Virginia; one brother, Ashley Eure (Sachie) of Orlando, Florida; one uncle, Ronald James of Taylorsville, North Carolina; his mother-in-law, Celia Younger of Jackson, New Jersey; two nieces, Reina and Micah Eure; one nephew, Issa Eure; and a host of other relatives and friends. A celebration of life for Mr. Eure will be conducted on Saturday, January 4, 2020, at 2 p.m. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dion Noel. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 3, 2020, at Miller Funeral Home from 6 to 7 p.m. and on Saturday, January 4, 2020, from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Paul Leon Hatcher, 78, of Bassett, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2019, at his home. He was born on June 19, 1941, to the late Eldon R. Hatcher and the late Amanda Thomas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rosa Hatcher. Paul is survived by his children, Paul Wayne Hatcher of Danville, Angelene H. Ancheta (Lee) of Bassett, Jeffrey A. Hatcher of Spencer, Randy D Hatcher (Jessica) of Collinsville, and Samuel K Hatcher of Bassett; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, five step great-grandchildren; three brothers, Curtis Hatcher, Dewey Hatcher (Judy) and Milton Hatcher (Brenda); two sisters, Rebecca Speicher (Jules) and Carleene Pilson; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Saturday, January 4, 2020, from 1 until 2 p.m. at Ross Harbour United Methodist Church in Stuart with the Celebration of Life Service to follow at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to Bassett Funeral Service, P.O. Donald Wayne McGhee, 70, of Ridgeway, Va., passed away after a lengthy illness on Monday, December 30, 2019, at his residence. He was born on November 4, 1949, in Henry County, Va., to the late Norman F. McGhee and Clara M. McGhee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, J. Stan McGhee Don was a graduate of Fieldale Collinsville High School where he excelled at baseball. He was an avid rabbit hunter who had a love for his dogs. Also, he loved his UVA basketball. He was a member of Horsepasture Christian Church and retired from Appalachian Power. He is survived by his wife of forty nine years, Lynn O. McGhee; sister-in-law, Dorothy W. McGhee; niece, Kimberly D. McGhee; special friends, Jim and Beth Robertson, Mike and Sabra Easter; and his hunting companions, Cindy, Boomer and Daisy. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2020, from 9:30 until 11 a.m. at Norris Funeral Services. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. at Norris Funeral Services with the Rev. Dave Cuthbertson and the Rev. Allen Jackson officiating. Burial will be held at Mountain View Cemetery. Elsie W. Peck 93, of Bassett, died Sunday December 29, 2019. Elsie was born in Franklin Co. on May 5, 1926, the daughter of the late Luther Worley and the late Lydia Shively Worley. She was also preceded in death by sons, Cecil Boyd and Randall David Boyd; brothers, Harry Worley, Shirley Worley; sisters, Myrtle Atkins and Ethel Carroll. Surviving her loving husband of 51 years, Sherman Peck; daughter and son-in-law, Katherine Cline (Jonathan) of Panther, West Virginia; three sons and daughter–in–law, James Radford of Bassett Forks, Lonnie Garfield Boyd Sr. of Bassett and Roger Boyd (Brenda) of Bassett; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Visitation for Elsie will be Thursday, January 2, 2020, from 12 to 1 p.m. in the chapel of Bassett Funeral Service with funeral services to follow at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.
