James Herman "J.H." Bryan, age 63, of Axton, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2020, at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital. He was born on March 27, 1956, in Martinsville, Virginia to the late James Andrew Bryan and Elizabeth Keys Jacobs. He was former employee of Schlueter Electric for 30 years. He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his wife, Brenda Barker Bryan. He is survived by his sons, Joshua Allen Bryan and Michael Bryan; sisters, Martha Davis and Patricia Anderson; brother, David Bryan; and six grandchildren, Nolan William Bryan, Sierra Bryan, Allen Bryan, Holden Bryan, Mason Bryan and Ethan Bryan. The graveside funeral service will be on Thursday, March 26, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Burial Park. Ida Frazier, 100, of Martinsville, Va., and Inverness, Fla., passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, March 12, 2020. Ida was born on September 7, 1919, in Franklin County, Va. to the late Wesley Arthur and Nancy Hodges Arthur. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; and her brother and sisters. Earlier in life, she worked at a big department store in Baltimore, Maryland. When her husband, Ralph passed away, she did some traveling across the USA. Ida was an auxiliary member of the VFW where she was Queen of Poppy sales, and also belonged to the American Legion and The Red Hat Society. For her 100th birthday party, Ron and Judy gave her a big party on the water with a pontoon boat ride, cabins on the water and a big dinner with family and friends. She is survived by her nephews, Ron (Judy) Terry, Larry (JT) Arthur, Billy Arthur, and Jimmy (Becky) Arthur; nieces, Katherine Stufflefield, Betty and Kathy Lavinder; and sister-in-law, Hazel Arthur. She is also survived by many cousins and friends. A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2020, at 1 p.m. at Roselawn Burial Park with Pastor David Deisher officiating. The Reverend Kirby Lee Phillips, 90, of Martinsville, Virginia, formerly of Rocky Mount, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 22, 2020, at home surrounded by his family. He was the widower of Mary Juanita Crawford Phillips. They shared 53 years of marriage together. He was born on August 9, 1929, in Floyd County, Virginia, the son of the late Charlie and Ocie Phillips. He was a retired Pentecostal Holiness minister of 60+ years. He was a Korean Conflict Veteran, serving two years in United States Army as a Military Policeman. He is survived by his four sons, Robert Lee (Bonnie) Phillips, Samuel David (Margaret) Phillips, Matthew Dale Phillips, and Mark Allan (Jennifer) Phillips; grandchildren, Roxie (Randy) Smerecki, Sara Michelle Phillips, Rebecca Phillips (Clint) Dodson, Hayleigh Elizabeth (Nick) Worgan, Rachel Dawn Phillips, Lindsey Elexa Phillips, Nikki Rhea Phillips, Adam Gardener, Genny Alexander Phillips, Olivia Faith Phillips, Elijah Ben Phillips; great-grandchildren, Teagan Marlin Phillips, Savannah Gantt, Kolby David Walthall, Elizabeth Gantt, and Lily Nell Phillips. He is survived by four siblings, Ralph Phillips, James C. Phillips, Ruby McDaniel, and Tinesta Nester. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charlie J. Phillips. The family is planning a private graveside funeral service on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at 1 p.m. at Mountain View Memorial Park in Boones Mill, Virginia.
