CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Floyd County and Virginia Tech graduate Amanda Hollandsworth played well Saturday morning but finished with an 11-over 153 after two rounds of the U.S. Women's Open and did not make the cut.
She shot a 4-over 75 in the second round, improving her first-round score by three strokes. Her second round was interrupted by a weather delay Friday and was suspended by darkness after she had completed 11 holes. She played bogey-free golf in her seven holes Saturday.
Hollandsworth shot 3-under in her final eight holes, including a birdie on her final hole Friday night (the par-3 No. 11) and two birdies Saturday morning (the par-4 No. 13 and the par-5 No. 15).
The cut was 145.
This was Hollandsworth's first tournament as a pro golfer.
