Chamber concertSunday’s Chamber Music Recital series concert features something different: seven Bassett High School students performing.

Called “Odds and Ends,” the concert features a mix of pieces ranging from the Baroque period through modern times, including some tunes from recent movies.

The concert will be held at 3 p.m. in the Walker Fine Arts Auditorium at Patrick Henry Community College. Admission costs $10 for adults and $5 for students.

Clyde Hooker AwardsTonight’s the night Piedmont Arts celebrates major supporters of local arts, with the Clyde Hooker Awards. Honorees will be George W. Lester II and Martinsville Speedway. Additionally, Meritha Rucker and Brian Joyce will receive the 2019 Arts in Education Award, and scholarship winners will be announced. It all begins with the ceremony at 5:30 p.m. at the museum, followed by a reception.

Teen movieThe Martinsville Library will show a blockbuster Marvel movie at 1 p.m. Friday as part of its Teen Movie Series; other dates in the series will be June 28, July 12 and July 26. This one, being its first, will be kicked off with a pizza party, but free snacks also will be served at the other shows. To sign up for the pizza party, call the library at 276-403-5430.
